*Thursday schedule* - June 7, 2007

The California Special Interest Group of the Museum Computer Network is
planning a summer meeting in which members can explore the convergence
of the arts and the sciences in both museums and educational contexts. A
tour of Orange County's Discovery Science Center will be combined with
tours of the Beall Center for Art and Technology and the Maya Lin Plaza
at UC Irvine. Robert Nideffer, a Studio Art and Computer Science faculty
member, will demonstrate and discuss how dynamic, interactive, and
immersive computer game technology may be used for educational purposes
in museums, in particularly UCI's partnership with the Discovery Science
Center on the development of DinoQuest (

More detailed information is forthcoming, but save the dates for now.
Please join us in Orange County for the MCN meeting (there may be a
small charge for museum admission, also open to ARLIS/NA, VRA and MESC
members). Consider attending the MESC meeting in Los Angeles (special
registration fees will be offered for MCN members).

*Friday schedule* - June 8, 2007

Museum Educators of Southern California (MESC)

Conference is 9:30-4:00 pm. At the California Science Center in Los
Angeles.
Members' price: $50

In the past decade, technology has changed the way people learn,
communicate, connect, and create. As digital culture evolves, museums
must adapt to capture, exhibit, and interpret this culture. Join the
Museum Educators of Southern California to explore ways to integrate
technology into our educational mission, gain inspiration from those
producing great multimedia projects, and hear lessons learned from the
e-trenches.
