Hello Everyone, We just started a "stand alone" social networking web site for museums and educational institutions called the Museum and Educational Social Network (MESN). There has been a lot of talk in the museum community lately about sites like MySpace, FaceBook, and others but none have a niche platform for museums. We thought having a robust social site that utilizes some of the applications of MySpace and FaceBook, for museums and run by museums, can better meet the needs of your organization, visitors, and students.
We hope this kind of social site can extend the reach of your educational programs and outreach. We just started it a few days ago so our membership is small but hopefully we can build a larger community. Please take a few moments and look at the site. Sign up is free and easy. http://mesn.museumpods.com/ MESN (Museum and Educational Social Network) is intended only for use by museum, library, and educational professionals, museums, educational institutions, students, and people interested in the arts. You can join as an individual or as an organization, i.e., a museum, educational institution, library, and as a person/student. You can start your own groups/discussions, customize your home page, upload videos, tag photos, import with Flickr, make blog entries, rate videos, make RSS Feeds, as a part of the Museum and Educational Social Network. We are working on interfaces with FaceBook, which will be online soon. Students and educational institutions are also encouraged to join us. Thanks for your time, Kurt Stuchell http://mesn.museumpods.com/ stuchel at fas.harvard.edu
