Hi Stacy, Yes, you need to list some more details. Are these jpegs only, probably not right? Tiffs can vary from large master files at 80MB down to cropped tiffs sized for a certain print at 7 or 8MB, by example.
Speed and access can be an issue as well with image servers. Are you planning on working directly on the server? Or will you be storing files that have been processed locally? Will there be any asset manager running on the server? And the really awful question....backup. Notwithstanding what others will say on this list, get a Unix server... SGI, Sun, or Xserve. Always better for images.
