The Getty Trust seeks to fill the position of Manager of its Web Group, which is a staff of seventeen designers, writers, producers, integrators and programmers responsible for the Getty?s main website and various Intranets. The Manager reports to and works with the Executive Director for Digital Policy to set priorities and effect strategy in support of the Getty?s mission and goals as carried out through the work and activities of its programs, the Museum, the Conservation Institute, the Foundation and the Research Institute.
The Manager is responsible for all administrative and production duties related to a growing and increasingly effective web presence for the Getty, including the daily management of budgets, contracts, staff and development projects. Consulting with staff in the Web Group as well as Institutional Research, the Manager provides high-level web expertise and direction for the infrastructure and support of web related projects initiated in any of the Getty programs and administrative units, preserving throughout the integrity of the web site?s navigation, design logic and usability. Working closely with key staff in the programs, the Manager maintains and communicates a master project schedule that sustains a high level of access to all Getty collections, research tools, and program activities while ensuring resources also for new initiatives and unforeseen opportunities. The successful candidate will have solid management and communication skills, effective at all organizational levels and demonstrated over a course of comparable experience of at least five to seven years. The successful candidate will have a track record of team-spirited staff and project management in a deadline-driven environment, knowledge of web architectures, production, applications and services, as well as content development and design life-cycle management. Finally, the successful candidate will demonstrate an understanding of and keen interest in the particular web opportunities and strategies available to and appropriate for a non-profit cultural heritage and visual arts institution.
