Just yesterday, we finished implementing Altru from Blackbaud (for us a
5-month implementation), migrating from a hosted Raiser's Edge
environment. Altru is a SaaS tool for managing your entire organization,
not just donor management. The Altru core is the Constituent database,
around which you manage your donations, giving, memberships and
communications ("thank yous" aka "Acknowledgements"), programs, events,
volunteers, merchandise, revenue reporting, etc. It also provides a
General Admissions POS for ticket sales.

We arrived at Altru because our new strategic plan emphasizes knowing,
growing, and expanding our audiences, as well as being more efficient. I
think any good donor management tool should help you do those things. The
SaaS solution just made sense, because we were able to shut down several
servers, as Altru replaced multiple software packages, and will soon
replace CounterPoint for us, yet another server.

Altru isn't "lightweight," however, because it does so much. But, the
interface is simple to use, and works in all browsers and on mobile
devices.

I highly recommend Altru, because of how our entire museum is able to see
and use the same set of constituent data and giving/membership history.
Using the same tool across the board emphasizes standard operating
practices and allows us to cross-train staff for different roles.

Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a software as a service (SaaS) online donor
management tool? Do you like it?

We want to do some fundraising and want a lightweight tool to help us take
donations and manage the thank yous etc would also be great if we could
manage our Friends subscriptions as well, but that can come later.

1. What services are you using? Would you recommend them?

2. Are there any tricks for new players or gotchas we should look out for?

Any other words of wisdom appreciated!
