The Museum of Art, Rhode Island School of Design seeks an *Assistant Registrar for Digital Resources to join the Museum Registration Department. *The Museum of Art, Rhode Island School of Design is a world-class art museum internationally acclaimed for the quality and diversity of its permanent collection. The collection traces the history of art with more than 80,000 works of art. The RISD Museum is an integral part of the Rhode Island School of Design and the principal art museum for the city, state and southeastern New England. The Museum presents a full range of public activities, exhibitions, classes and seminars each year. The Assistant Registrar for Digital Resources will manage the day to day administration and facilitation of the Museum?s digital image resources, with specific responsibilities for coordinating digital image creation, maintaining and distributing digital assets to a wide variety of users, and managing associated rights, licensing, and metadata. The ideal candidate will have experience in the areas of collection information metadata and have a working knowledge of descriptive schemas and standards in the fields of information management and resource discovery and sharing; digital imaging, rights management and digital archives; an understanding of database concepts and experience with databases and data entry; with knowledge of best practices in digital curation, archiving and museum collection documentation and care. This position requires a highly organized, detail-oriented, flexible individual with exceptional organizational skills with an ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and make multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Qualifications: Bachelor?s degree in the humanities, an art related discipline or library science, and three to five years of experience in collection documentation in a museum, library or archival environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Appreciation for and understanding of a museum environment, roles of various curatorial staff and object handling. Critical eye and ability to evaluate the quality of art object images. Demonstrated experience with cultural heritage information standards and best practices, basic digital imaging technology, collection management software, and copyright law. Demonstrated experience in the coordination of digital resources and/or collection management systems. Facility with Word, Excel, and Photoshop. Understanding of digital metadata.
