Tibbals Collection Digital Manager, #24205 The John and Mable  
Ringling Museum of Art, Florida State University, Sarasota, FL.

Responsibilities include maintaining the integrity and organization  
of the Circus Museum's growing digital collections; planning,  
designing, implementing and evaluating the digital activities and  
information policies of the Circus Museum; working knowledge of  
cutting edge interactive and digitization technologies as well as a  
familiarity with new media; leadership in developing digital  
collections policies; acting as liaison to Registrar's and  
Information Technology Offices.

Bachelor's degree and four years experience, and knowledge of museum  
procedures and collection management systems, and Internet technology  
required.  Preferred BA, or MA in Library, Information Science,  
History or related field. One to two years experience in cataloguing  
and handling Museum objects.

The successful candidate will have experience in managing collections  
in digital formats, knowledge of cataloguing including metadata  
issues, database development, and search engines.  The successful  
candidate will also have excellent communication skills,  
organizational abilities, attention to detail, and be able to work in  
a team environment.

In 2000, the museum?s governance was transferred from the State of  
Florida to Florida State University, redefining the Ringling?s  
educational mission.  Major renovations were completed on the Museum  
of Art, Ca d?Zan Mansion, and Circus Museum.  The historic Asolo  
Theater was restored, while new landscaping enhanced the original 66- 
acre estate.  Four new buildings have recently opened: the Tibbals  
Learning Center that doubled the size of our Circus Museum; the  
Visitors Pavilion to serve some 350,000 annual guests; an Education  
Building to house our library, conservation facility, classrooms and  
staff offices; and new galleries for traveling art exhibitions.
