Hi Marla:

Was wondering: what is the total member/subscriber base for MCN?

Within that numbers, are there numbers to breakdown museum roles, ie. % =
IT; % = curators;
% = Eduators, etc. If you have this information, would you please forward.

Thanks, Cynthia

Dear MCN-L Subscribers (apologies to those who've already read this on
musematic.org),

In early June, most of the MCN Board of Directors assembled at the
beautiful Getty campus for two solid days of strategic planning. Our
process was facilitated by Diane Zorich, a much-respected colleague
whose business it is, among other things, to help organizations like
ours focus in on our direction and to get started down the path.

Focus, prioritize, and act. We discovered we are generally in agreement
about basic issues, such as increasing, diversifying, and cultivating
membership, and providing worthwhile services for your membership
dollars. Part of the process is figuring out what we're doing now, and
what we want to be doing three years from now. It sounds
straight-forward, but then again, so does building a house. There are a
lot of steps involved, and many checkpoints along the way.

Over the summer the Board will be working on a draft of the strategic
plan, and we will be inviting MCN members' comments and input prior to
the conference in November. We will have an open discussion forum during
the conference in Pasadena, and tentatively anticipate having the final
plan available in early 2007.

I'm looking forward to this challenging, wide-ranging project, and will
be updating you periodically.
