Dear IP SIG members and Interested Others,

During the November IP SIG meeting at MCN, Pasadena, I volunteered to
create a place on a social bookmarking site for SIG members (and
others) to post and tag IP-related bookmarks. There is now a group
called "MCN IP SIG" on the Ma.gnolia web site
(http://www.ma.gnolia.com) for this purpose. I've already added and
tagged about two dozen of my own IP web site bookmarks -- please feel
free to add/tag yours as well.

For those not familiar with Ma.gnolia:

"At Ma.gnolia, members save websites as bookmarks, just like in their
browser. Except with a twist: they also "tag" them, assigning labels
that make them easy to find again. So when you search for something,
you use words that people choose and look only at websites that
people think are worth saving. Suddenly you have access to a
human-organized bookmark collection that numbers in the millions, but
is as easy to use as a search engine."

To add bookmarks to the MCN IP SIG group at Ma.gnolia, you'll need to
create an account on the site (free), then join the MCN IP SIG group.
When you add a new bookmark, be sure to save it to the MCN IP SIG
group.

The Ma.gnolia site has a great tutorial to help you along. It also
offers a number of bookmarklets (mini programs you place in your web
browser bar that let you add bookmarks to the group without
interrupting your current web session - these too are explained in
the tutorial.)

The benefit of creating this group on behalf of the IP SIG is to
faciliate sharing/searching of IP-based web resources that may be
useful to SIG members (or anyone else interested in IP issues in
museums). So please take a moment to join, add and tag bookmarks
that you think are useful and, of course, search for IP web resources
of interest.

Best,

Diane
