Dear All,

The latest post from V&A Digital Media blog is a short review of the
presentations from last week's Bits 2 Blogs 2013, a one-day event held in
Newcastle , UK

This may be of interest to MCN-ers.

I've kept it brief as we are all busy :)

Some interesting takes on lots on things include:

- the pervasiveness of data and phone-based communications in everyday life.
- Sound archiving and the implications for delivery as the web changes
- the value of context and story in engaging visitors with content and
Bits2Blogs
- smart objects and their use in developing reminiscence services for people
with dementia
- data publishing should be viewed as standard practise
- convergence between digital and physical life has effectively arrived. We all
move back and forth between them continuously.

In case you're wondering - Bits2Blogs and is organised annually by Tyne and
Wear Archives & Museums (for international friends, that in the North of
England!) and is 'the annual event for anyone working in the North East
cultural heritage sector who is passionate about using new ideas and new
technologies to engage new audiences.'

It was good. Thanks to John Coburn and Gill Scott of Tyne and Wear Archives and
Museums for a great day

Andrew
