Hi Ben - I was CC'd on some off-list communication so you know the status, but I thought I should reply to the community and let them know as well. MuseTechCentral launched back in 2008 and was never really maintained or updated. It slowly spiraled into a relatively un-usable state and through inattention the domain was allowed to expire -- and as you've noticed, was snatched up by a squatter.
I *think* the actual database and code still exist on an ex-board member's server in Toronto, but after an informal discussion MCN has decided not to invest time and effort into resurrecting the service. I think with the prominence of github and its growing number of museum-centric repositories we as a community would do better to focus there and try to organize those repos. This has come up before, but maybe now's the time... Anyone want to start building a repo that's a list of all museums on github? Here's a start: https://github.com/IMAmuseum/ https://github.com/walkerart https://github.com/cooperhewitt Thanks, Nate On Thu, Mar 28, 2013 at 5:33 PM, Ben Rubinstein <benr at cogapp.com> wrote: > Does anyone know what became of http://musetechcentral.org/ ?
