I wanted to let all my many friends in MCN know that I have accepted a new position which will take me largely outside the MCN community.
What am I doing? I am the new "Museum Planner" for E. Verner Johnson & Associates, a "museum architecture and planning" firm in downtown Boston. I will work with the senior architects and the client museum's staff & trustees to develop master plans for museums. While technology may play a part in the planning, it won't be a major focus of the work. Overall, this looks to be a really interesting job! Unfortunately, the firm does not have a web site. I suspect that will be rectified shortly after I arrive. I have, however, scanned in some text to make a simple web page which includes a description of the firm, their planning work, and the resume of Joann Horgan who I am being hired to replace. Pictures will follow. Here's a URL: http://staff.mysticseaport.org/personal/guy/evj/evj.html I have put in a couple of days now and am sure this is going to be a fascinating job. The first two projects I will be involved with are masterplans for the Carnegie Institute and for the West Palm Beach Historical Society-the Carnegie has 1.3 million square feet, the WPBHS has 35,000. They couldn't be more different. I have a lot to learn! I have found MCN to be both an invaluable professional asset and a warm and welcoming community of friends. I will miss both these things! I am sure I will see many of you in my travels. Many thanks to you all! Guy Guy Hermann MYSTIC SEAPORT The Museum of America and the Sea http://www.mysticseaport.org Looking for some good reading?
