Does anyone have experience of streaming MPEG2 video into public spaces?
We are particularly interested in the concept of streaming from a central
server via a high speed network rather than standalones running from local
hard drives.
The world seems divided on whether this is a
good idea (central control, ease of updating, etc)
bad idea (expensive, high latency, too many points of failure, etc)
or, a good idea but the technology isn't ready yet
There are of course also intermediate models including networked local
devices with large caches etc..
Your views are keenly sought!
If you've actually done it, what equipment did you use and what are your war
stories?
