Hello MCN List members! I have a few announcements to make regarding the MCN website and several new services now being offered there. These changes were recently announced at the MCN conference in Philadelphia last week.
1) eSpectra is a new online complement to our journal Spectra. eSpectra is updated monthly and includes time-sensitive information like event/conference announcements and job postings, as well as short features and late-breaking announcements. Spectra will continue to include longer feature articles. 2) MCN Special Interest Groups (SIGs) now have their own web pages and email forums. On the SIG pages you will soon find links to professional resources in the SIG topic, SIG mission statements, as well as the current ability to browse and read the activity on the SIG email list via the web page. You can subscribe or unsubscribe to any of the SIG lists directly from the web page as well. 3) MCN is hosting several web/email discussions about possible MCN International Chapters in Japan, South America, Scandinavia, Italy, and the UK as well. You will find these pages and discussions listed next to the SIGs. 4) Now you can subscribe and unsubscribe yourself to the main MCN-L email list via the MCN website (www.mcn.edu). [ NOTE: Several people are still sending messages to the old MCN-L address ([email protected]). This address will be out of service soon, and we should direct all messages to the new MCN-L address ([email protected]) which is listed on the website. ] We hope that these new services and open discussion forums will encourage you all to participate and involve yourselves with your colleages discussing everything from your museums IT plan development to copyright of papyrii! Please let us know what you think so far, and look for more improvements in the future.
