As I have received the call for proposals for the MCN conference and I try to be realistic about what any one human being can attend to, I regretfully must step down from chairing the Controlled Vocabulary SIG - a position that I have been unable to effectively fill for the past year anyway.
When I first agreed to take the responsibility, my work life was able to accommodate the tasks, but there was not the structure in place in MCN to do things like mount the web page. Over the past year or so as procedures have been put in place at MCN, my work responsibilities have increased to the point that I can be nothing but ineffectual as a SIG chair. I hope that this decision comes in time that someone else who may be so inclined, can propose a conference session dealing with the issues of controlled vocabularies, etc.
