Hi CAL SIG members,
I've just come back from a planning meeting in Las Vegas and I'm getting pretty
excited about this year's MCN annual meeting. This should be a great
conference and we have lots of surprises in store for you. Please plan to join
us November 5-8, 2003, at the Riviera Hotel (right on the Strip). It should be
an easy trip for us, we're either a quick flight or a road trip away.

As the SIG chair, I am sending this email to remind all of you that the call
for proposal for sessions is up on the MCN website at
http://www.mcn.edu/Mcn2003/proposal/Call_for_Participation.html

I encourage you to consider submitting a proposal for a session for this year's
conference. The CAL SIG has been a little behind-the-scenes in terms of panel
sponsorship (or rather getting recognized for it), and I'm determined we will
be noticed this year. If you have an idea but are not sure how to run with it,
give me a call or an e-mail and let's discuss it. Maybe you're thinking you
know someone who'd be a great panelist, or you're thinking of a topic you'd
like to know more about yourself, any & all ideas are welcome.

Your 2003 Conference Chair needs you! The sponsorship and vendor hall
committees need you too! If you would like to know more, volunteer, or
volunteer someone else, please let me know as soon as you can.

Also don't forget we are still kicking around the idea of a primarily
recreational pre or post conference CAL SIG retreat in the desert. If you're
interested, let me know.

Please remember to renew your MCN membership right away (if you've lapsed) as
I'm just about to do the clean-up & drop any remaining non-members (sorry
folks!).
Happy New Year!!
