Hi, everyone:

As the MCN meeting approaches, so does our annual Silent Auction. The auction benefits MCN, a nonprofit organization of professionals dedicated to fostering the cultural aims of museums through the use of computer technologies.

Your generous contribution of auction items helps MCN continue to offer the programs and resources we all find so useful. It's not too soon to start dreaming up novel (or hey, even grandly excessive!) donations and stashing them away to carry to the conference, where donated items will be accepted in person.

Exhibition catalogues and other publications from your institution's store or press are popular donations; equally great are museum clothing and other souvenirs. This year's venue opens a wide door to Vegas-themed possibilities, and rumors of at least one Liberace object have been confirmed. As ever, items of any sort--new, old, seriously useful, completely frivolous--that may be attractive to bidders (and transportable by airline passengers) are encouraged.

Auction volunteers also are needed, and will be appreciated greatly. If you'd like to help, please contact me off-list at <[email protected]>. The auction will take place on Thursday evening of the conference (November 5-8, 2003).

Conference information is at http://www.mcn.edu/Mcn2003/index.html .
