Museum-Ed is pleased to announce the launch of the Museum-Ed Web site at http://www.museum-ed.org, a resource designed to support and build on the Museum-Ed Discussion List.

Museum-Ed is a not-for-profit Web site dedicated to providing museum educators opportunities to ask questions, to exchange ideas, to explore current issues, to share resources, to reflect on experiences, and to inspire new directions in museum education. Museum-Ed is not a membership organization. All of the resources on the Museum-Ed Web site are free and available to educators in any type of museum, and anyone interested in the field of museum education.

The History of Museum-Ed
Museum-Ed began as a discussion list created in response to an Education Committee (EDCOM) luncheon at the 1995 American Association of Museums Annual Meeting in Philadelphia. At the luncheon, museum educators expressed a need to create a network for the easy exchange of information. With that goal in mind, the Museum-Ed Discussion List was created by Kris Wetterlund and Larisa Somsel. In 2003 the list was upgraded and moved to the Museum-Ed Web site to provide additional support and services.

In the future we hope to publish research and reproduce articles and reports, to include a database of museum education resources, information and links about related sites, funding opportunities and services. Our goal is to provide all of this to everyone who is interested at no charge, without any passwords or log-ins. We hope the site will be used and contributed to by all museum educators.
