Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce that ARTstor's Charter Collection
participation fees are now available on the ARTstor web site at,
http://www.artstor.org/participation_info/participation.jsp.

ARTstor will be available for licensing by non-profit educational and cultural institutions in the United States starting this July.
The ARTstor Charter Collection is:

* A repository of approximately 300,000 digital images - spanning
thousands of years of visual history -- and related data;

* software tools to make active use of those images; and

* An online environment designed to balance the rights of content
providers with the needs and interests of users to create a sustainable digital resource.

The ARTstor Charter Collection documents artistic traditions across many times and cultures and embraces architecture, painting, sculpture, photography, decorative arts, and design as well as many other forms of visual culture. We believe the Charter Collection will, in its richness, scope and variety, support the needs of teachers and scholars throughout the arts and humanities.

ARTstor has developed browser-based software tools that will enable researchers and other users at participating institutions to access and use ARTstor without the need to purchase any third-party software.

ARTstor software features include zooming and panning across images; creating, annotating and saving groups of images for personal or group uses; and constructing presentations for online or offline use.

We will offer a variety of solutions that will allow for various uses of ARTstor's tools and content in conjunction with local content and with a range of learning management and library systems.

For more information about ARTstor, or about participating in ARTstor, please visit: www.artstor.org.

Thank you

Max Marmor
