11:30 am Lunch on your own. You may stay at the Asian, eat there, and tour the galleries; or you may go ahead to SFMOMA and eat there, or in the neighborhood. Restaurant lists will be provided.
Transportation to SFMOMA is fastest via MUNI or BART. Take a train going downtown and get off at the Montgomery Street station; then proceed to the Museum at 151 Third Street, between Howard and Mission. If you are walking south on Third, Minna is the first street (it looks like an alley) you come to after Mission Street, right between the Museum and a construction site. Turn left onto Minna and walk to the staff and visitor entrance.
1:00 pm Meet outside SFMOMA’s staff entrance (on Minna between New Montgomery & Third Street). You’ll be escorted to the SFMOMA office annex for our afternoon meeting with featured speaker, Robert Futernick, Associate Director of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. Some of you may remember Bob’s talk several years ago when he gave us a tour of their interim collections facility. This time he’ll be bringing us up to date on the new museum building in Golden Gate Park, and their latest technology plans.
2:30 pm Cookie break
3:00 pm Cross Minna to the main museum building and go up to the Koret Visitor Education Center for a tour of the facility and their technology.
5:00 pm Meeting adjourns, but you may visit the galleries until 9 pm, eat dinner in the caf, or stay in the KVEC (open until 8:30 pm). Bring your laptop to the caf if you wish to check your email via wireless connection.
