Greetings,
This message is being distributed to
several groups so we apologize for any cross posting.
AMIA - Digital Asset Management section of the Digital Initiatives
Committee
The Digital Asset Management section of
the Digital Initiatives Committee of AMIA, (The Association of Moving Image
Archivists) is pleased to announce that we are conducting a state of the
industry survey on digital asset management. This survey (www.amia-net.com) is
comprised of three separate questionnaires designed to gather and collate
information based on the level of your organization’s progress on your
digital asset management initiatives, from those who are just starting to think
about digitizing their materials to those that are very experienced.
The purpose of the web site is to
gather information from a variety of archives: business, governmental,
university and nonprofit and then distribute the compiled information back to
the participants, keeping the sources anonymous to get a snapshot of the state
of the industry. We have all relied on the professional industry measures
such as Gartner and Forrester for our information and are looking to see how it
validates across a spectrum of organizations.
What the Questionnaire is not!
This site is not a sales tool. You will not be contacted by AMIA or
vendors if you decide to fill it in.
While the first screen asks for demographic information, contact information
will remain private as we adhere to AMIA's Privacy Policy (http://www.amia-net.com/PrivacyPolicy.html).
This information will allow us to categorize the results by type or
organization, such as business and nonprofit. As mentioned, the final
results will be compiled. We are asking for an e-mail to facilitate
delivering the compiled results.
What is the questionnaire?
In fact, there are actually three. The questionnaires were developed by
the co-Chairs of the Digital Initiatives Committee, John Horodyski of Electronic Arts, Ted Ryan
of The Coca-Cola Company, and John Walko of Scene Savers.
The Beginner Questionnaire is designed to aid organizations about thinking and
planning for the future of both the proposed system and the types and delivery
of the content.
The Advanced Questionnaire is designed to gather information from experienced
users on proposed next steps for Digital Asset Management.
The Vendor Questionnaire, which with the Vendors permission can be made public,
should serve as a source of information for those trying to compare systems and
vendors.
How will I get results?
You will receive a compiled result after the site is closed at the end of
February if you have provided your e-mail address. We will also summarize
the results and publish the findings on the AMIA website, with any later
updates at the AMIA conference in 2005.
Please help us understand the state of the industry and participate in this
survey. If you are aware of any other organizations which might have an
interest, feel free to forward this note.
The website will remain live until Friday,
February 25, 2005.
Thank you.
