I wanted to put a call out there to see if someone would be interested in
forming a panel on Museum Registration systems to present at the MCN
conference?  Here at HealthSpace we encountered many challenges when it came
to finding a new Registration Database.  We evaluated several products and
eventually decided to custom build our own, and what a challenge that was.
I m proud to say that it was a rather successful project, but I feel like I
have learned SO much from the process and would love to share this
information.  Also, whenever I talk to cultural institutions, they all seem
to be interested in how other institutions are handling this, so it seems
like it would be a rather popular topic.

Our Registration Database handles the following:

All Education Programming (In-House, Outreach, Distance Learning)
All Rentals
All Resource Allocation
All Contact Information
All Financial information (relating to Education & Rentals)
We are also building an online registration system that connects directly to
the database...

I could easily talk about the benefits and challenges with custom building
your own system.  I would like to find others who have maybe done the same,
or who have purchased systems and we can give a complete snapshot of dealing
with these types of systems.

I would also be happy to server as the Chairperson for this Panel.
