Dear MCN members,

We are delighted to announce that the MCN Board has authorized the creation
of a new special interest group (SIG). This new SIG will focus on metrics
and evaluation, allowing MCN members to exchange research (results and
methodology) and share questions regarding all manner of quantitative and
qualitative metrics and evaluation of on-line museum content. Areas of
particular interest are user feedback analysis, Web server log analysis and
user consultation and participation. The Metrics and Evaluation (ME) SIG
endeavors to develop “best practices” and further the knowledge and
expertise of participants as a result of pooling our experience.

During the ME SIG's infancy, Kati Geber, Manager of Research and Business
Intelligence, and Kim L. Gauvin, Audience and Programs Analyst, both of
CHIN, will co-chair. However, it is hoped that someone with a keen
interest in this area will come forward to take over as chair within the
coming months.

All those interested in participating in the Metrics and Evaluation SIG
should contact Kati Geber ([email protected]) or Kim L. Gauvin
([email protected]) at the Canadian Heritage Information Network (CHIN) at
(819) 994-1200 or 1 800 520-2446. Expressions of interest will be
collected and a meeting organized for the MCN conference to be held in
Boston.
