Hello all, Thanks, although it may seem like a potential challenge, or threat even, to copyrighted museum content, I think it also indicates that people (visitors) are quite engaged in what museums are communicating and putting across; they wish to participate too, in this ever ongoing (re-)interpretation of our culture..
Internet, mobiles, DV cams and personal media players are not likely to go away, for some time...so it seems to call for museums to also develop virtual audiences and communities, in the same way as work is under way with physical community development/inclusion. Who are the "virtual users"? And what do visitors expect/want from museum media provision (not just "exhibitions")? Time to approach "virtual visitor studies"?
