The Cultural Resource Management Program at the University of Victoria is pleased to offer the following immersion and distance education courses and workshops for professionals, volunteers and board members in museums, art galleries, cultural institutions, heritage sites and related organizations. Learning has never been this much fun! Distance Courses Our distance learning courses enable you to develop important knowledge and skills in the places and at the times best suited to your learning needs. Innovative print and electronic teaching resources and interactive communications create stimulating learning experiences. The following is a listing of upcoming distance education courses: Museum Principles and Practices: Sharing Knowledge January 9, 2006 to April 17, 2006 Principles and Practices in the Conservation of Heritage Resources January 9 to April 17, 2006 Curatorship: Contemporary Perspectives January 16 to April 23, 2006 Human Resource Management in Cultural Organizations January 16, to April 23, 2006 Conserving Historic Structures May 2006 – Dates to be confirmed Caring for Collections May 1 to July 30, 2006 Immersion Courses On-campus, six-day immersion courses bring together small groups for intensive and stimulating learning experiences away from the workplace. The following is a listing of our upcoming immersion courses: Cultural Tourism January 23 to 28, 2006 Financial Management in Cultural Organizations February 6 to 11, 2006 Conservation in Context February 20 to 25, 2006 Communicating Through Exhibitions March 6 to 11, 2006 Museums and Communities March 12 to 17, 2006 Intangible Heritage May 1 to 6, 2006 Heritage Harbour Revitalization May 8 to 13, 2006 The New Web: Interactive and Collaborative Technologies in the Museums World June 5 to 10, 2006 Workshops Non-credit workshops are offered from time to time to bring together museum professionals for short interactive sessions. Most non-credit workshops are three days in length. Museums at the Heart of the City with Gail Lord March 2 to 4, 2006 Museums and Spirituality with Elaine Heumann Gurian March 30 to April 1, 2006   On Location The following six-day immersion course is offered in Oaxaca, Mexico Approaches to Historic Site Stewardship: Perspectives from Monte Alban March 12 to 18, 2006 Courses and workshops are open to all professionals involved in museums, heritage sites, galleries, cultural centres or related organizations.
