The following position is open at Philadelphia Museum of Art. Please note
that it is in the Information Services Department (the Museum's Systems
Office) and not the Library. The successful candidate, however, will work
closely with members of the Library staff.
Subject Cataloguer, Information Services
The Philadelphia Museum of Art is seeking an individual to do subject
cataloguing for works of art in all departments of the Museum's art
collections. The Subject Cataloguer will develop hierarchies for subjects,
from general to specific, and will work from images of the works to enter
the subjects into the Museum's collection management system (TMS). The
Cataloguer will work closely with the Collections Information Manager,
Visual Resources Librarian, and the curatorial departments to establish
protocols for each type of work. An undergraduate degree in Art History is
required, a Master's degree in Library Science or equivalent experience
preferred. Coursework in Asian art a plus. This is a two-year position
with potential for extension. Please send resume and cover letter to:
PMA-HR, 215.684.7977 or [email protected]. Please include salary
requirement and JOB TITLE. Resumes will not be considered without a job
title in the subject line. No phone calls, please. EOE.
