The Kentucky Derby Museum is currently looking for a full-time, non-exempt 
Audio-Visual Technician, a position with three main areas of focus. First, this 
position is the lead coordinator for all of the Museum's A-V services for 
rental clients, including daily record management and on-site operation of 
equipment during events. Second, the technician will be involved with video and 
audio recording and editing for the Museum's social media efforts and in-house 
projects. Finally, this position is responsible, under supervision, for the 
operation and maintenance of the Museum's A-V and computer-based exhibits. This 
position normally works an irregular schedule Tuesday-Saturday (including many 
evenings) with Sundays and Mondays off.



The Audio-Visual Technician will report to the Director of Technology. 
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following (other duties may 
be assigned):



- Works as the main A-V contact for rental clients and schedules the use of 
in-house A-V gear and the acquisition of rented gear as needed.

- Operates and troubleshoots all of the Museum's A-V and computer based 
exhibits during public hours and for after-hour events.

- Records and edits audio and video footage for the Museum's social media 
efforts, in-house projects and archives.

- Performs light maintenance and cleaning of A-V exhibits, equipment and 
facilities.

- Maintains records concerning the use and maintenance of A-V exhibits.

- Sets up and monitors clients A-V needs during rental and other events at the 
Museum.

- Assists with digitizing and archiving the Museum's collection of video tapes, 
film reels and other media and creates dubs for outside parties from this media 
as assigned.

- Records media broadcasts for use in exhibits and for archival purposes.

- Serves as the lead for changing and maintenance of all exhibit lighting.

- Serves as the main contact for maintenance and billing of the Museum's 
postage meters and photocopiers.

- Assists the Director of Technology and Operations employees as needed when 
working at the Museum.



Candidates must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and 
should have a strong background using A-V equipment. Candidate must be 
comfortable working periodically on ladders and elevated platforms up to 12' 
high as well as outdoors and in enclosed spaces. Preference will be given to 
those who have previously worked for a museum, nonprofit organization or in a 
hotel/conference/corporate A-V environment. Experience with video production 
and/or editing software will be viewed favorably. College degree preferred.



Annual salary will be in the high-$20K range, depending on experience. Benefits
