The position is located at the Smithsonian Institution Archives (SIA), 
Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C. The purpose of this position is to 
assist SIA’s Digital Services team in its efforts to preserve, make accessible, 
and build awareness of the SIA collections.

DUTIES:

  *   Assists with media and content preparation for publication on SIA 
websites by copy editing textual content and obtaining media. Coordinates with 
SIA staff, fellows, and interns throughout the process.
  *   Assists with media and textual content preparation for publishing on 
social media accounts by creating, verifying, and scheduling information.
  *   Assists Head of Web, New Media, & Outreach in coordinating special 
outreach campaigns with other SIA staff and occasional interns, fellows, and 
research associates. Consults with central Office of Public Affairs when 
necessary.
  *   Assists archivists with digital preservation activities including 
preparation, maintenance and quality assurance tasks.
  *   Responsible for ensuring intellectual and physical control of records 
(photos, diskettes, publications, etc.) while performing archival duties.
  *   Assists the Digital Services Director with administrative tasks.
The incumbent will perform duties similar to those described above but with 
closer supervision and guidance.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Experience: You qualify for this position if you possess one year of 
specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 level in the Federal 
service or comparable pay band system related to the work of this position. For 
this position specialized experience is defined as: working in a team 
environment to input and maintain data in an archival or library management 
collection system; assisting in digital outreach efforts for an organization; 
training in preservation of historic digital collections

OR

Have an appropriate combination of education and experience as describe above. 
The quality of the combination must demonstrate that you possess the knowledge, 
skills, and abilities required to perform the work of the position.
