We have been looking at Xibo, and that was our top choice for a bit, however we’ve started displaying a lot of dynamic content, mostly from our calendar for things like the day’s program schedule, or the next available guided tours and I’m a bit hesitant to push that kind of content to a browser that’s historically not known for being super standards compliant. Have you run into that issue at all Douglas?
Also, thanks for all the other links, we’ll add those to our list. Right now Rise is at the top of our list. Does anybody have any experience with them? https://www.risevision.com/ The flexibility is attractive, but the prices on their hardware is very reasonable, cheap enough to order it in for a test to see how well it works before deploying across all screens. https://store.risevision.com/products/?cat=Media%20Players Shane Richey Digital Media Manager Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art 600 Museum Way Bentonville, AR 72712 479-418-5735 (direct) 479-409-0275 (cell) 479-418-5700 (main) CrystalBridges.org > On Dec 9, 2015, at 6:00 AM, [email protected] wrote: > > We've had decent luck with Xibo, an open source solution. > http://xibo.org.uk/ > Although we've been hesitant to push its boundaries in terms of video, it > works great with all kinds of other file types and managing multiple > screens. > Would be great to have some colleagues using it too, then we could trade > tips and tricks, etc. > It's not the only option out there, of course. > http://www.concerto-signage.org/why-concerto > http://www.smallbusinesscomputing.com/News/Marketing/5-open-source-digital-signs-for-small-businesses.html > All the best, > Douglas _______________________________________________ You are currently subscribed to mcn-l, the listserv of the Museum Computer Network (http://www.mcn.edu) To post to this list, send messages to: [email protected] To unsubscribe or change mcn-l delivery options visit: http://mcn.edu/mailman/listinfo/mcn-l The MCN-L archives can be found at: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/
