Hello Alex,

Another option besides Brightsign that allows for using your own machines
is Navori (www.navori.com). It does have some upfront costs, unlike open
source Xibo, which I¹d say is less user-friendly if you want distributed
authoring. That said it is the cheapest signage CMS I was able to find
with a wide range of capabilities (like pulling RSS feeds and lifestreams)
and scalability (adding more players, swapping out machines for better
ones, etc.).

This is a server to player solution that is scalable to any resolution
that your PC supports. It operates on any Windows PC or Android device so
that you only need to buy player licenses. Navori's support is pretty
solid and we have been using it pretty successfully to run a range of
static and video content.

I also used this in San Diego, where we were able to integrate website
elements with static content and video pretty easily. This allowed staff
to update content via their website without needing to learn the Navori
CMS, which is currently a gooey (not ideal) but looking forward to an
HTML5 update soon.
