The Freer Gallery of Art and the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery together form the 
Smithsonian’s museums of Asian art. The galleries are devoted to the research, 
acquisition, exhibition, care and management of the renowned collections of 
Asian art in each museum and American art in the Freer Gallery. The mission of 
the Galleries is to encourage enjoyment and understanding of the arts of Asia 
and the cultures that produced them, and to use works of art to inspire study 
and provoke thought. The two museums are co-administered and share the same 
staff.

The Digital Media and Technology (DMT) Project Coordinator reports to the Freer 
and Sackler Galleries’ Chief Digital Officer. The incumbent will be responsible 
for the general day-to-day administration and facilitation of project activity 
within the department, which includes Web, AV, Imaging and Photo Services, and 
IT. The incumbent will provide assistance to the department head in the 
planning, implementation, management, and documentation of departmental (some 
cross departmental) projects and initiatives, adhering to scope, timeline and 
budget.  The incumbent will also assist the department with the preparation and 
record keeping of the annual budget.

This position requires an ability to meet and communicate clearly and tactfully 
with high-level museum personnel and business representatives, and to apply 
knowledge of appropriate protocol in a variety of sensitive situations. 
Incumbent must show skills in written communication (including use of computer 
for communication) sufficient to produce written and oral reports, knowledge of 
project management and administrative practices and procedures to ensure the 
efficient flow of work, and the ability to serve as a liaison with gallery 
staff and other Smithsonian offices.

Incumbent will be located in the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery building in 
Washington, DC. The salary range is $53,000 to $69,000 (equivalent to a grade 9
