Reports to: DEP Project Manager, Charity Counts, and Technology Consultant,
Nancy Proctor
Honorarium: $1000 per fellow
Fellowship Period: Six (6) months; Five (5) fellowship positions are available
in each of the following time periods: April - September 2021 and October 2021
- March 2022

BACKGROUND

About the Project: The Digital Empowerment Project brings together the six
regional museum associations and a technology partner to provide
capacity-building programs and resources in the areas of digital media and
technology for small museums.

The project was made possible by an Institute of Museum and Library Services
(IMLS) National Leadership Grant for Museums award and will result in ten (10)
live training modules, each featuring up to four (4) webinars/workshops and
digital resource toolkits. The live training modules will take place over the
course of a 10-month rollout period (April 2021-January 2022), with each
webinar/workshop within a module taking place the same day of the week and time
of day over the course of the month (typically Tuesdays or Thursdays at 11am
PST/2pm EST).

All recordings and resources will be made available online through the Museum
Learning Hub (museum-hub.org). The Hub will also feature an online community
forum for training participants to engage in dialog about their digital
projects, pose questions for their peers, and inquire about solutions or best
practices. This online community forum and the Hub’s social media pages will be
moderated by Student Technology Fellows and members of the project’s leadership
team.

Regional Museum Association Partners: The six regional museum associations
partners include the Association of Midwest Museums (AMM), Mid-Atlantic
Association of Museums (MAAM), Mountain-Plains Museums Association (MPMA), New
England Museum Association (NEMA), Southeastern Museums Conference (SEMC), and
Western Museums Association (WMA)—collectively referred to as the Council of
Regional Associations (CRA). The executive director of AMM, Charity Counts, is
serving in the role of project manager.

Technology Consultant: Nancy Proctor serves as the project’s independent
consultant and skilled museum technologist. Nancy’s role is to contribute to
content and resource development, identify skilled technologists to provide
instruction for technical trainings, and support emerging technologists serving
as Student Technology Fellows on the project.
