Dear Colleagues,

On Tuesday, May 18th, we had another fabulous discussion in our Dreaming of
a New Collections Management System webinar series. This week’s
conversation brought honest and critical discussions on a range of topics:
getting institution-wide buy-in on adopting decolonizing or DEAI practices;
institutions connecting with their local BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and
People of Color) communities; establishing institutional NAGPRA and DEAI
policies and procedures for collections management and documentation; and
developing customizations to collections management systems to meet NAGPRA
and DEAI needs. This week Kara Vetter, Nicole Allen White, and Mikka Gee
Conway shared where each of their institutions are in the process of
implementing DEAI and NAGPRA initiatives and embedding those into their
collections management practices. If you missed this inspiring
conversation, you may find a recording of the session on our Youtube Channel
<https://youtu.be/vUkIhlXq4OY>.

In the next segment of our series, we will be looking to raise the profile
of some of the lesser-known Collections Management System Solution
Providers to learn more about how their systems are being used and adapted
to meet the challenges raised in our series. The next webinar session is
scheduled for June. We will share more information on this webinar in the
coming weeks.

Until next time, we wish you well!
