Hello!
I’m writing in regards to the Visual Resources Association Foundation<https://vrafoundation.com/> (VRAF) Internships in visual resources and image management. The VRAF is seeking host sites for the internship; if you are interested in hosting an intern at no cost to your institution, please read the information below. We are very grateful to the Samuel H. Kress Foundation for generously supporting our past Internship Award recipients and fully funding the eighth internship for this upcoming year, 2021-20. Click here to read about the 2020-21 VRAF Internship Award Recipient, Miriam Sappington<https://vrafoundation.org/internship-award/>. The award grants $3,000 to support an internship in archives, libraries, museums, visual resources collections, or other appropriate settings. It also provides a professional development account of $1,000 to be used for attending conferences or training events, including the VRA Annual Conference<http://vraweb.org/conferences_page/upcoming-conferences/> and/or Summer Educational Institute for Visual Resources and Image Management (SEI)<https://seiworkshop.org/>. The student will provide 200 hours of service over the course of their internship. In order to be eligible for the internship, the student must have completed at least ten credits of graduate coursework in Library/Information Science, Art History, Architecture or Architectural History, Visual or Studio Art, Museum Studies, or other applicable fields of study. This internship is available only to U.S. citizens. The work may take place at an institution outside of the USA, provided there isn’t any additional cost associated with being hosted at an outside site. If you and your institution are interested in hosting a student during the Fall, Winter, or Spring of the 2021-22 academic year, please fill out the 2021 VRAF Host Form<https://forms.gle/iLHQDxwJpiDCyesZ7>. Submission deadline is Wednesday June 2nd. With this information, a list of potential internship sites will be compiled and added to the Visual Resources Emerging Professionals and Students (VREPS) website<https://vreps.wordpress.com/> to help student applicants find an internship in their geographical area. We also encourage virtual internships, for students who are unable to work onsite due to potential COVID concerns. We hope that you will consider being a host site for this wonderful opportunity for students just starting out in the fields of visual resources and image management. Please share this announcement! More information about the internship can be found here: https://vrafoundation.com/internship-award/ Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions.
