Great idea! I'll start work on it at once! (well, I don't seem to have much
time these days - probably something to do with a new job and deciding to
take up reading csa.misc - so it may be a while before I do start on it)

Yes, that's the only problem. To actually replace the text, you would need
to re-import the message. Then you'd need to give it a new message-id,
else it won't import (I absolutely hate this feature - yes, I understand
the reason for it, but can it be disabled please?). Deleting the old
message can be done with the same filter which invokes the script/program.
