Crap ISP / mail server? Do you get lots of stop starts when
downloading files e.g. with Voyager, I doubt this is an MD problem.

What is the window size set to? If it is the default size, i.e.
small, try increasing it then going into Settings | MUI| Windows and
change positions to "save on exit". Quit and reopen MD it should open
with the bigger window size. Opening groups and MD hanging is often
caused by this "small window" bug.
