AFAIK the read speed is 4X the playout speed. That gives you a fair
amount of room for variations, e.g. a readout of 2X the playout speed
would still work.
But it must be that startup is the most expensive step. A deeper ATRAC
FIFO memory would probably help battery life a lot.
