We have a similar problem in Brazil regarding Sony products.
Sometime ago, Sony published a note at the first page of nationwide
newspapers stating that Sony Brazil won't honor warranty issued by Sony
abroad.
Gradient, one of Sony Brazil competitors, took advantage of this episode and
also published a first page note, stating that Gradient would honor it's
warranties anywhere in the world where it has offices.
:)))
Funny episode!
So here goes a sugestion to SHARP competitors. Take advantage of that, as
Gradient did in Brazil, and offer its customers a better service.
Despite that, I bought my home and car Sony MD deck abroad.
What options did I have? None, Sony Brazil doesn't sell MD decks here. They
are imported through independent importers.
Toshiba does now.
