Hi,
With regards to the complaints from US members that Sharp won't honour
japanese warranties on their equipment, I emailed Sharp here in the UK
to see what their standing was on my imported MD821. Their response
to my enquiry is below. I thought this might be of use to anyone here
in the UK who is thinking of importing a Sharp unit but was put off
by the comments regarding Sharp (USA)'s stance on imported items.

P.S Thanks to everyone on the list who offered me advice on
replacement headphones, I'm currently sifting through the
suggestions, so thanks guys.

Although not officially gauranteed by Sharp UK we do try to honour " non-uk"
warranties
where reasonable. Providing the units proof of purchase is available and
verifies that the
unit is not older than 6 months and the fault is a genuine one , ie not due to
incompatability
of use within the UK or accidental damage/misuse ...we can offer a warranty
service.
