This kind of info is very important to anyone who usesr rechargable
batteries and want to prolong or at least not shorten the life of his
batteries.

Especially these two types of batteries are of intrest to portable MD
users,
is there a portable MD which uses NiCad batteries?
Nickel Metal Hydride:
As with Nickel Cadmium, it is helpful to give the battery an initial
overnight charge. The battery should not be charged for more than about
three hours, though the occasional overnight charge will do
the battery some good.
Too many overnight charges will again overcook the battery,
thus reducing the life span. Nickel Metal batteries only
suffer slightly from memory effect, hence they only need to be
discharged about once every two to three weeks. You can expect
approximately one and a half to two years life from a Nickel Metal
Hydride battery.
Lithium-Ion:
Lithium-Ion batteries do not suffer from memory effect at all. It is
worth charging up the phone for about eight hours as from new though,
just to make sure a full charge is given. Charge times do very between
manufacturers, however, these batteries should not be charged for more
than about eight hours, to avoid overheating and damaging the battery.
You can expect approximately one to two years life from a Lithium Ion
battery.
Although these batteries can be topped up as you go along, it is worth
letting the battery run fairly low between charges to maximise the life
cycle of the battery.

hope some of you find this information helpful.
