Check to see that the magnetic head is aligned with the laser head. Sometimes,
if the unit has been dropped or jolted (hard jolt mind you), the magnetic head
might be misaligned, and even though the magnetic head tries to write the info
during a recording session, the laser isn't heating the right spot of the disc
to its curie temperature.
