| I'm also glad to see people acknowledging the problem with using the same
| jack for line out and headphonesin portables.  In my view, if you want it
| to be a true hi-fi device, a separate line out should be a high priority,
| or else get proof positive the line out aka headphone jack line out does
| not run through the headphone amp.  Another reason to get the R50.

The average consumer really could not care less about having a line out
separated from the headphone amp.  He does not care that the headphone jack
is not impedence matched for the cassette adaptor he uses in his car.  In
fact, he probably has no idea what I just wrote means.  All he wants to do
is plug in the adaptor, press the play button, and hear music from the
speakers.

Nice as the R30 and R50 might be (I have an R30) they are still consumer-
grade devices, with Joe Average as a hopeful target market.  If you really
need a dedicated line out, forget about portables.  Get a high-end deck
with all the ins and outs you need.
