Buy your headphones first.  The headphones packed with the unit will suck.
A good set of lightweight headphones will cost you $30-$50, earbuds $20-$30
more (Sony's top of the line earbuds retail around $75 -- I bought mine two
years ago when they were "only" $50 :).  Find a set that you like and bring
them with you when you go out shopping.

Based on my own experience, the 702's amp has a higher top end than Sony's
MZ-R30/R50.  For the newer models you should probably listen for yourself.
