I also bought the phones in Japan and mine fit fine.

I have a pair of the over-the-head model that I bought in Japan before they
were available in the USA. They work really well if I hold the pads against
my ears in the proper way, but if I don't they don't really fit right, It's
like they were designed for ears with a much different configuration (hard
to explain, but the it's like the pads swivel the wrong way from the way my
ears face. Maybe Japanese ears are shaped much differently than Caucasian
ears???)After a long period of time (>4 hours), the outer part of my ear
starts to hurt from the pads trying to press them against my face.

Looks quite nice, also looks a bit bulky, how heavy are they?
