Don't buy a Sony MZ-R55.
I've bought one last may.
I have not used it much, but it started to act strangely a few weeks ago:
1. recharging the battery has become impossible: after pressing the stop
button, the unit auto-shuts off.
2. when using the external battery case, the unit never shuts off (the
display is always visible), consuming the batteries.
3. it mysteriosly shuts off if I slide the hold switch on the unit to the
"hold" position!
4. when I insert recordable MDs, the unit tries to record on them. Even when
I insert prerecorded MDs the unit starts in a rec mode, since the warning
"P/B ONLY" flashes on the display.
I'm bringing the unit for repair. I'm going to ask for a substitution, but I
don't think they'll agree.
I'm very disappointed. I new portables were delicate, but did not think they
were THIS delicate.
