Hi,

I always thought that ES was a dumb idea. I had read all this thread and it
made me think about why
sony did this and why we don't saw what the point of ES.
Every one of us use his/her portie to record CD or music from other audio
sources. Maybe Sony thought that
most users will use their MD to record voice (conference, lecture or their
own voices) like a dictaphone. In this case
you use MD like an audio tape, erasing what you don't need by overwritting
by new material. It explain why home
deck don't have this feature.
Remember that Sony is selling music en MD so i think they prefer that people
buy prerecorded MD. And one explaination
for the difficult take-off of MD's is the non-avaibility of a wide
prerecorded MD catalogue. But who cares, I think most people bougth
their MD portie for recording CD.

Maybe the rigth solution is to offer ES as an option.
