Hi All, I am thinking about following Shawn Lin's plan (http://members.tripod.com/~Psych/md-cdrom.html) to build a TTL-to-TOSLINK converter for my CD-ROM's. My question(s) is that would this gives me the capability to record directly from MP3? Shawn stated that you could use this to record straight from a CD, but never mentioned anything about MP3 (which is a different format). It is a little confusing because if there is digital out put for the music cd, would there be the same out put for the mp3 being played in the cd-rom? He said that you could record from mp3 with your MD-Recorder plugged into the sound card, but this will be the analog route, which I don't like. Has anyone tried the converter with MP3? Thank you in advance for your input.
