Sorry to join in this debate, but I had to say something.

I don't think that it is fair to do a direct comparison between a 9v
100mA source, and a 12v 600A max current source.

Remember its the current not the voltage that hurts!  How many times
have you had a static shock?  That is essentially thousands of volts
and has it killed anyone yet?

Try doing that with a 12V car battery and let the list know what
happens.  That might prove my point.
