Can anyone comment on if/how the Thomas Meier solution could be adapted for

I'm writing.
I've built an interface for my MZ-R50 to control it when recording MP3s from winamp
via my Hoontech Digital NX with optical out. I control rec, paus, stop and trackmark
functions. I have modified Bazzas winamp plugin to continously look for when a new
track starts, and then it sends a trackmark to the MZ-R50. No need for any gaps
between songs! I even record CDs from my Plextor SCSI CD, and when using the
continous-out plugin for winamp recordings are correct with trackmarks even if its
live concert CDs with no gaps between songs. I also sync start of recording with start
of winamp so I don't have to press a million buttons when I start a recording.
The MZ-R50 can't name tracks from the remote, so that part of Bazzas software had to
go. :-(
I used a Maxim 4066 quad analog switch. On maxims homepage
http://www.maxim-ic.com/StartPage.htm you can order free samples of their circuits.
They delivered within a few days from England to Sweden. I bought a couple of
resistors at a shop nearby, and used some parts that I found in my electronics drawer.
Total cost for project about 20 SEK ($2.50).
The 4066 is powered through the parallell port, just as Thomas Meiers, but I use only
one pin for power and then don't need the diods. It works great The function is
mainly the same as Bazzas circuit (or Thomas Meiers). If you look at Thomas Meiers
excellent homepage there should be no problem to port the construction to the MZ-R55.
Use resistor walues from e.g . Leon Woestenbergs (aso excellent) homepage
http://www.stack.nl/~leon/minidisc/remote/ You will need to modify the software (I
guess), or write your own. Bazzas circuit controls more functions than Thomas Meiers,
I belive that's needed for the Sony, so you can't use the CD4051 or similar. I think a
1-16 analog mux is the way to go.
I have been thinking about putting up a webpage about my project, but since I'm very
busy moving right now it'll have to wait.
