A few notes from the US:
* I took a trip to South Carolina over the last 4 days to participate in
a wedding (not my own). While there, I stopped by the Sony Outlet store in
Gastonia, North Carolina. They didn't have much in MD gear, but they did
have the aforementioned headphones for $40. I picked up a pair for use with
my Aiwa AM-F70 - they produce excellent sound, though I wish they had a
little better isolation...
* While at the reception for the aforementioned wedding, I noticed the
DJ (a gentleman of advancing years) was playing several tracks in a row
without touching a turntable or CD player. Curious, I stopped by his table
to discover a Sony JE-310 and a collection of mix discs he'd made himself!
As South Carolina is not *ahem* the most technologically advanced state in
the union, I was surprised, to say the least. I do believe there's hope for
MD in this part of the world yet...
